Piadini, Panini, Piadina, Ruti: Whatever you call it, it's freakin' delish!

I remembered my friend Athena and my brother from a fraternity I am affiliated with at law school who happens to be Athena's boyfriend and guess what his real name is Superman. Yup! Yah got it right. The Man of Steel and Athena "The Goddess of Wisdom". Deadly combination, right? Well, these two are some of the people I respect and like. Athena who is so sweet, kulet and very "ate" like and Superman who is a brother whom I can depend on, these guys treated me on a snack over at PopRock when I got off from the office at work. We chat and made kulet with each other and then ordered for a snack. It was the day where I first tasted Poprock's "Piadina". It's very tastefully delicious. It may not look that much from the outside but once you get to taste it, I promise you you'll be asking for more. It definitely won my tastebuds. I said to myself, I'll definitely have it listed as 2nd to my favorite snacks of course on top of the list would be the unbeatable tuna pie.

Here in Iligan, we call it "Piadina", in Marawi City they call it "Ruti" but in Italy they refer to it as Panini where a small, filled bread rolls are folded twice and stuffed with cheese, perhaps mozarilla and then toasted in the oven or pressed by a warming grill.

Although it is originally called panino which means bread in Italy or sandwich in America. But in Iligan City's version it is way too delicious. It's not just stuffed with cheese but slices of chicken/pork rubbed with fresh garlic, veggies and paired with mouthwatering sauces made only in the City of Waterfalls.

This is what I am talking about:

So when I had my first bite, I couldn't stop admiring the food. Then I promised to myself, I'll be back for more. Haha! Thanks to the lovers, Athena & Superman. My belly's full and I've had another food trip where I see a possible place to comfortably sit, listen to my ipod, sip coffee, read my favorite books especially from John Grisham and then eat my oh-so-deliciouso panini este piadina. :P

MSU – College of Law Iligan Extension: Certified Member of the ALSP

On the month of June this year, the College has received an invitation to attend the first Mindanao Convention of the Association of Law Students in the Philippines (ALSP). This was actually attended by all law schools in Mindanao and the agenda was to unite all of these law schools and prepare a more centralized bar operations committee. The said organization was actually a federation of 67 law student governments in the country established way back in the year 1989. The members composed of bona fide law students whose student councils have been chosen to affiliate themselves to the ALSP. Further, ALSP is a registered association with the Securities and Exchange Commission of which it is an accredited organization by the Integrated Bar of the Philippines itself together with the Supreme Court and the National Youth Commission under the office of the President.

Our very own SLSC President Mr. Nader Limba Macagaan, Jr who was elected as the Executive Vice Chairman of ALSP together with our SLSC Joyce Ann Adlawan and yours truly attended this event on June 11. The convention was held at the House of Malibu, Malaybalay, Bukidnon.  Other schools that participated during the ALSP Mindanao Annual Convention were Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan, Liceo de Cagayan University, Bukidnon State University, Cor Jesu College, Pagadian Capitol College, Fr. Saturnino Urios University and Ateneo de Davao University.

It was one great experience since this is the first time that with the initiative of the SLSC, law students from our school now became a member of ALSP the fact that the latter is recognized as a student counterpart of the IBP and it is important that the MSU- College of Law Iligan should join this association for with this we are able to improve our bar operations committee starting this year and the following administrations. It can also instill a sense of social awareness and public responsibility among its members, particularly in the advocacy of social justice, human rights and promote a better understanding of the legal education in the Philippines by providing venues for academic cooperation and coordination which are just some of the objectives of ALSP.

This was also my first time to have traveled alone without any family member acting as my chaperon. Hehe. I knew that this was going to happen from the moment I became an SLSC officer myself. This was a new thing for me and traveling alone was what I have always wanted to experience. Traveling from one place to another is independence, it is freedom indeed. I have just to experience this now that I am 22. Indeed this was really a productive experience having been able to meet people from different walks of life, befriending them and getting the chance to discover the beauty of Bukidnon per se.

So here are a bunch of pictures we took during our short stay in Malaybalay, Bukidnon:

Although we haven’t attended the first ALSP Regional Convention in Cagayan de Oro on October 26 to 29 because of the enrollment period but there will always be next times and we are hoping for the best and this time around we won’t be absent of the fun and excitement that awaits for next years ALSP events.
