MKP First Ever Summer Sportsfest

This year's month of May with the collaborative efforts of Maximus Al & Maxima Neri as well as the rest of the MKP officers for this year especially to those residents who voluntarily help without any reservation; had the initiative to start the first ever summer sportsfest in the exclusive law fraternity and sorority. This was not only intended for losing some carbs but as a gathering between the residents and Alumni members in MKP Iligan and Marawi.

Through this event, the quality time and bonding between brothers and sisters is further proliferated. It's like getting to know each other especially for those who are newly survived members of Mu Kappa Phi. Being a resident for almost one year, I see this event as an important venue to foster the camaraderie and unity in the group. So here are pictures taken to savor the once in a blue moon affair every summer time. Enjoy browsing! :)

Who says boys can't wear pointy boots

When I first saw the pictures on the news, I thought "WTF!" Haha. I really thought it was just a joke where Mexican men wear ultra super pointed boots. Not only is it weird but it's really hilarious looking at them wearing those odd-looking boots. Men wearing these were first spotted specifically in Matehuala, Mexico. The culprit behind this Mexican craze is a certain "Cesar of Huizache". He started just about everything when it comes to these boots which eventually spread all over Mexico and across the border into United States.  It was said that "Cesar of Huizache" asked a shoemaker in the name of Dante Calderon and the former requested to make him the said custom-made boots. When it was finished, "Cesar of Huizache" wore the pointy boots in a Mesquit Rodeo and from then on the legend begins. Haha. Another fact was that women chose not to dance to a boy if he is not wearing these very pointed Mexican boots. To them it looks cool and they pride themselves once they got the chance to wear one. Women tend to find Mexican men sexy when they see one wearing "the" crazy looking boots. There are a variety of these boots ranging from the short ones to the longer looking pointed ones. Mexican men look like cowboys, with the  huge hats, checkered polos, coupled with skin tight jeans and it won't be complete if the man won't wear the pointy boots of course.  These boots are the longer, crazier and pointier version of Aladdin's shoes but in this case it is a pair of boots.

Fashion definitely these days have become so twisted that not all people will be able to understand it. Maybe because of culture and tradition that people are obliged to wear these strange forms of tapestry or shoes. I guess if it were up to me, I might have to pass. I don't think I have the guts to wear one not because I am not a man (hahaha) but I just don't think I am ballsy enough to be dared to wear one and walk on it in the streets.

But then again, watching this video MEXICAN POINTY SHOES made me realize one thing. The men have passion for music and for the shoes so much that they do not really care what others are thinking. They enjoy wearing it no matter how odd-looking it is. That's what I call being "gutsy".

A Note to all Online Filipino Workers & to the Prospective Employers

Out of my busy lifestyle (which I love the most), I have come across a very interesting post for today. While browsing my FB account, I have read a post of a secluded page for all Filipino workers who are working online such as Virtual Assistants also known as VA's which includes bloggers, writers, call center agents, web designers, web developers etc. The said post  proved very helpful. It is definitely enlightening for all neophyte OFW's (Online Filipino Workers), so check this one out:

This is just a feedback on your ad posted at craigslist.org. Consider the following points:

1. The lowest a Team Leader who works at a local Call center earns is PHP30,000.00 (roughly USD 667/month)

2. 13th month pay is mandated by law in the Philippines, given every December of the year

3. A manager (like other employees) here in the Philippines get the following benefits:
a. sick leaves
b. vacation leaves
c. overtime pay
d. higher rates when working overtime
e. additional night differential rate when working graveyard shifts (consider this very well if you're going to ask them to work during PST/EST/etc...)
f. holiday pay (keep this in mind if you want them to work during Philippine holidays)
g. medical insurance

So if you are thinking of hiring someone who is a real professional, you would have to prepare a better offer, especially if it's a home-based position since your prospective employee will be using his/her own resources and utilities just to give you good service.

With that being said, I'm sure you'll get responses from some people here who may be desperate. But don't think they would stay with you for long if you do not treat them well and give them adequate compensation.
To all employers: please stop exploiting the Filipino worker.
To all Filipino jobseekers: let's all stand together and be discerning with our choice of employers. Some of these employers are great and well-meaning but they don't know the standard benefits they should offer; so it is up to us to inform them with what they need to know.

Although the fact that I am a law student and I have been studying stuffs like these with regards to the rights of the workers, but due to my busy sched I forgot to inform my co-workers with stuffs like these that each and every worker should know.

Therefore, I am grateful for this a lot. I hope many of my fellow Pinoy (Filipino) workers are educated about these rights that we should avail to ourselves. Soon enough I will add some other rights that we have to know in order to prevent maltreatment and any other violation pertaining to the employees rights.

Till then, watch out for my new post entry! Have a great day everybody! :)
